Tokyo
After 16 years, I visited Tokyo again. Japan holds a special place in my memories because it was the first country I flew to and I remembered how nervous I was boarding the first flight of my life. It was a school trip, I was fourteen years old then, and it was my first time experiencing winter too. I remembered the trip quite vividly.
I was excited to return to Tokyo, with my family this time. There were places or structures I remembered from the last trip, but I had no idea what they’re called or where they’re situated, until I googled them. One example would be the golden turd, also known as the Asahi Flame in Asakusa.
The weather was pleasant during our visit. It was the end of spring, with some warmer days and some cooler ones, but it was always cold at night. We were out everyday, sightseeing and shopping. I do wish we had done more sightseeing because I’m not a big shopper but Tokyo is a shopper’s paradise and there’s truly a lot to see and explore.
I make do with what came my way. I photograph almost everything I could capture. A couple days I didn’t photograph, because I wanted to spend time with family. At that point I wish I could split myself into two, knowing I wouldn’t return to Tokyo anytime soon.
Tokyo is photogenic. Everywhere I point the camera, there are nice things to take photos of. The textures of buildings, how the bicycles were parked, the crowded metro stations, and the people passing by. If only I could slow down to take it all in.
I know for a fact that I didn’t take lots of pictures. But I did capture some that I’m happy of.
That’s it. As always, I'm hopeful that I'll be travelling again.
Till then,
